Philip Reeker met with representatives of Azerbaijani civil society
Baku/08.06.21/Turan: US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, met with representatives of civil society on June 8.
Attending the meeting were Rasul Jafarov, head of the Baku Human Rights Club, Anar Mammadli, Chairman of the Election Monitoring and Democracy Training Center, and Gunel Safarova, head of the Citizen public association.
Note that the meeting discussed the situation around human rights protection in Azerbaijan; problems arising from implementation of the freedoms of association, assembly, expression; the issue of political prisoners, the state of civil society, according to Turan Jafarov.
"Besides, the role of civil society in the post-conflict period and problems of cohabitation and peacemaking were discussed as a priority issue," he said.
