Georgia continues summarizing parliamentary elections. According to recent information, the gap between the opposition bloc Georgian Dream led by the businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili and the ruling coalition United National Movement remains substantial.
The current president, Mikhail Saakashvili, who in case of loss of the parliamentary majority will not be able to retain his power, urged not to jump to conclusions. However, his opponent Bidzina Ivanishvili has reported his own victory.
As of 10:45 Tuesday, they handled 20.7% of the ballots, and the opposition is gaining 53.31%, while the ruling party is gaining 40.59%. The remaining percentage is divided among the other 14 applicants.
However, the situation may change after the counting of votes in single-member districts. Supporters of Saakashvili are leading there.
According to an exit poll, the opposition is the leader and wins by a margin of at least 10% of the vote. Recall that the Georgian parliament consists of 150 seats, with half of them elected in single-mandate constituencies. -02D-
