Presentation of European Games in Moscow
In Moscow, there was presentation of the I European Games to be held in Baku on 12-28 June. The event was held at the hotel Radisson Royal Hotel - Moscow with the participation of the head of the Games Organizing Committee, the First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva.
The presentation was attended by high-ranking representatives of the Russian government and business, in particular, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Deputy Prime Ministers Arkady Dvorkovich and Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, the billionaire Alisher Usmanov, the head of VTB Bank Andrey Kostin, the President of the NOC of Russia Alexander Zhukov, etc.
"I am happy that we can present the Games in the capital of friendly Russia. The relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are based on a solid historical foundation. For decades our peoples have been linked by humanitarian, cultural and human relations and these ties have created a very favorable climate for the development of bilateral political, economic and public relations," Aliyeva said at the opening ceremony.
According to her, the Games will open a new page in the history of European sport, involving more than 6,000 athletes in 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic ones. The Games will be covered by more than 1,000 local and foreign journalists. More than 50 TV stations will broadcast the Games to 100 countries.-06D-
