Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on October 9
Today, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that the presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on October 9, 2013.
According to the constitution, the Election Day is considered Wednesday of the second decade of October (according to the expiration of the presidential term of office.)
The head of the CEC Mazahir Panahov said that this day (October 16) coincides with the religious holiday Kurban Bayram, which is day off. In accordance with the Electoral Code, the coincidence, if the voting day coincides with a holiday, it is transferred. Therefore, the CEC has proposed to move the Election Day to October 9. The previous presidential elections were held on 15 October, 2008.
Today's meeting of CEC also approved the basic schedule for the elections. -03B-
