Civil Movement Republican Alternative (REAL) held a protest demanding the release of their leader Ilgar Mamedov.
The event held on Sunday was dedicated to the passing 6 months from the date of arrest of Mamedov.
As the executive secretary of REAL Natig Jafarli said, the organizers deliberately refused to inform the public and sent closed invitations to activists of REAL.
Initially the action was planned in Sahil Park. However, seven police cars and 2 buses arrived there. It confirmed that correspondence and telephone conversations of the activists of REAL are confirmed.
Therefore the action at the last minute was moved to another location.
Its members wore T-shirts with the image of Mammadov and held banners saying "Freedom for Ilgar Mamedov," "Presidential candidate Ilgar Mamedov!" The intelligence agencies and the police did not have time to react.
August 7 REAL hold a press conference on the case of Mamedov, who on February 5 was nominated for president.
* Mamedov was arrested in connection with the Ismayilly events. He was initially charged under Article 233 (organization of actions that lead to violations of public order) and 315.2 (resisting police by force, threatening lives and health).
Subsequently, Article 233 has been replaced by a more serious article 220.1 (organization of mass disorders accompanied by pogroms and arson).
The European Court of Human Rights started to investigate the case of Mamedov out of queue. The government responded to the questions of the Strasbourg Court. -03B06-
