Protest on Fountain Square canceled
The rally appointed through Facebook in Fountain Square at 15.00 on December 28 under the slogan " Do not burn the veterans ! " has been canceled. The action was planned in connection with the attempted self-immolation of the second group disabled of the Karabakh War Zaur Hasanov .
However, after December 27 the Confederation of Trade Unions announced the payment of a compensation in the amount of 100,000 manats to the invalid for the destroyed cafe, support to the disabled man's family before the children reach adulthood, payment of his costs and ensuring the future employment of Hasanov and his wife, the organizers canceled the action.
In particular, the manager of the rally " Do not burn the veterans!" on Facebook, an invalid of the Karabakh War, a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Majlis of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA ) Asif Yusifli said that "after consultation between various public organizations of the Karabakh War veterans, it was decided to cancel the action, given the fulfillment of the requirements put forward."
On his page on Facebook Yusifli said that "the action achieved its objectives."
"Attitude to the problem was expressed at the level of the head of state. An investigation was launched. At the highest level, commitments were made to restore Zaur Hasanov's health. Material damages are awarded and financial assistance will be continued. Given all this, we believe that the action has reached its goal. We thank all those who supported our action. At the same time, we bring to the attention of the authorities that it is necessary to take drastic measures to ensure the rights and social protection of invalids of the Karabakh War. They do not have to resort to acts of self-immolation to resolve their problems. The authorities should immediately start taking steps to address the problems of the disabled of the Karabakh War," Yusifli wrote on his page on Facebook. -06D--
