Baku/07.09.23/Turan:  The second meeting of Ministers from member countries and observers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) responsible for natural disaster and emergency situation management commenced in Baku on September 6 and is scheduled to continue until September 8.

This pivotal event, meticulously organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, has attracted high-ranking representatives from competent state bodies dedicated to emergency response and disaster management.

In conjunction with the conference, the Baku-2023 international exercises are being conducted, involving rescue services from the member States of the OTS responsible for emergency management.

On September 7, President  Ilham Aliyev, accorded a welcome to the participants of the second Ministerial meeting for Disaster Management and Emergency Situations, as well as the Baku-2023 international exercises.

Apart from Azerbaijan, the event features the participation of countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and the Republic of Northern Cyprus.

This gathering stems from a momentous decision made during an extraordinary summit of the heads of OTS countries held in Ankara earlier this year. These leaders collectively agreed to establish a unified civil protection mechanism.

The impetus for enhanced cooperation through the Ministries of Emergency Situations was catalyzed by Turkey. Ankara's motivation was deeply rooted in the necessity to formulate a collaborative approach to crisis prevention and forecasting, particularly in response to the ongoing repercussions of a devastating earthquake that the country grappled with. This tragic event claimed the lives of tens of thousands of individuals, prompting a resolute commitment to safeguarding the region against similar calamities.--0--
