Robert Cekuta: The US is very serious about the settlement of the conflict
Baku / 24.01.18 / Turan: In the near future a food production plant will be put into operation in Jodchuk Marjanli village in the Jebrail region. It was built with the joint financing of the government of Azerbaijan and USAID, stated the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta at a meeting with the head of the State Committee for Refugees Ali Hasanov.
The ambassador noted that a lot of work has been done in Azerbaijan to resolve the problems of internally displaced persons. He noted that the US government implemented such projects as the construction of schools for internally displaced persons, their repair, the organization of English language courses, the improvement of water supply.
According to Cekuta, the purpose of the meeting is to determine the priorities for future projects.
Ali Hasanov, in turn, said that over the past 24 years, international and local humanitarian organizations, as well as donor countries, spent 1.4 billion dollars on projects. Of these, $ 820 million is allocated by the US Department of State, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Agriculture. The implementation of these funds is to be done by the non-governmental organizations in America. There has always been a close relationship between USAID and the Azerbaijani government.
The Karabakh conflict was also discussed at the meeting. The Press Service of the State Committee on Enlightenment says that according to R. Cekuta, the US is very serious about the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Official Washington is a supporter of a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
"Today, the most important of our joint activities is the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that has been going on for so long. The US, being one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, will step up efforts jointly with Azerbaijan in this direction," the ambassador said.--0--
