Ruling party complained to CEC about Azadlig and Yeni Musavat
The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) complained to the CEC about Azadlig and Yeni Musavat , accusing them of violating the rules of the election campaign.
The appeal stated that the newspapers published October 8 campaign materials in support of the presidential candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Gasanli and violated Article 75.1 of the Electoral Code on the termination of agitation 24 hours before the vote.
In addition, the newspaper Yeni Musavat, published pre-election propaganda material of another presidential candidate, Igbal Aghazadeh. NAP asked CEC to investigate the facts and to give legal assessment of them.
The Director of the Media Rights Institute, Rashid Hajily, commenting to Turan on this complaint, pointed to the controversial nature of the issue.
He noted that the papers were signed for the print late at night on October 7.
"We have to see what decision the CEC will take," said Hajily.
Asked to comment on the publication by the official newspapers of the detailed report of the government meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, Hajily replied that "the same is true about these newspapers." -16/06D-
