Baku/13.12.23/Turan: Russia is always ready to accept negotiations on the Azerbaijani-Armenian settlement, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told TASS.
According to him, Moscow expects Baku and Yerevan to take into account the timeliness of the relevant proposal.
"Our proposals on holding peace talks on the peaceful settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Moscow platform are open to our partners from Armenia and Azerbaijan. We sincerely hope that Yerevan and Baku will remember and understand this," the Deputy Foreign Minister said when asked whether a meeting of the three countries' Foreign Ministers in Moscow was being arranged through diplomatic channels.
For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on 12 December that the conditions for signing the peace treaty should be determined by the parties themselves.
Earlier, on 7 December, the Azerbaijani Presidential administration and the Armenian Government apparatus issued a joint statement saying that Baku would release 32 Armenian prisoners and Yerevan would release two Azerbaijani soldiers.
According to the statement, Yerevan and Baku will continue negotiations on the implementation of additional confidence-building measures in the near future and call on the international community to support their efforts, which will promote mutual trust between the two countries and have a positive impact on the entire South Caucasus region.-06B-
