Russian diplomat defected to the West, protesting against the war in Ukraine
Baku/23.05.22/Turan: Boris Bondarev, adviser to the Russian mission to the UN in Geneva, publicly condemned the Russian war against Ukraine and resigned, the British Daily Express reported on Monday.
In a statement published in the publication, Bondarev wrote: “During my twenty years of work, I have seen various turns of our foreign policy, but I have never been so ashamed of my country and my work as on February 24 of this year. The aggressive war started by Putin with Ukraine , but in fact with the entire Western world - not only a crime against the Ukrainian people, but also, perhaps, the most serious crime against the people of Russia, which with a bold letter Z crossed out all hopes for the gradual development of a successful democratic society in our country.
Separately, Bondarev criticized the Russian Foreign Ministry, where lies and unprofessionalism grew from year to year. “Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not engaged in diplomacy. He sows lies, incites hatred and war. Diplomacy serves the private interests of a narrow circle of people who have nothing to do with the real needs of Russian society," Bondarev said and announced that he had decided to resign. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has not yet commented on this event.
Given that the statement was placed by the British publication, it can be assumed that the diplomat received asylum in this country. -02D-
