Russia's Outrageous Statements 'Reinforce Our Conviction To Supply Ukraine With Assistance'. U.S. Says
The State Department said on Tuesday that considers Russian Government's 'outrageous and unacceptable' statements about Ukraine, as a reminder to "reinforce our conviction to continue to supply Ukraine with the assistance that it needs to defend itself, to repel Russian aggression from its borders," as Spokesperson Matthew Miller put it, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
"The amount of Russian propaganda that we hear about Ukraine didn’t just start this year or last year; it has been going on for a number of years," Miller told a daily briefing when responding to TURAN's questions.
"And it reaffirms, as I said, our commitment and, I think, heightens the need for Congress to take action to pass the supplemental request that we’ve sent up to Ukraine," he added.
Miller's comments came in reaction to the Kremlin's response to what came to be known as the “Day of Dignity and Freedom,” commemorating the uprising in Ukraine,
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called the Maidan revolution a "western-sponsored coup." Separately, Russian Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik was queted yesterday as saying that coexistence "not possible with Ukraine’s current regime."
