On February 6, by the decree of Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, Sahil Babayev was relieved of his duties as Minister of Labor and Social Protection.
By another decree, Babayev was appointed as the Minister of Finance. The position of Finance Minister became vacant after the President appointed Samir Sharifov as Deputy Prime Minister of the government last month.

On February 6, 2025, the Khatai District Court of Baku decided to place journalist Shahnaz Beylyargizi under arrest for three months and 15 days. According to lawyer Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Beylyarghizi has been charged with the same accusations as the previously arrested journalists and activists in the Toplum TV case.
