Sargsyan goes to talks with Putin
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will visit Moscow on March 14-15 at the invitation of Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service reported. During the high-level talks on March 15, it is planned to discuss key issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as the issue of the Karabakh settlement.
The same topic discussed in Moscow recently with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan their Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. After the meeting with Elmar Mamedyarov, Lavrov acknowledged that the parties are far from finding common ground. Some time ago, the Armenian media reported that Moscow plans to upgrade the status of its military base in Armenia to the level of a regional base and this requires the consent of Yerevan.
What exactly is meant by this is not clear. However, if Moscow really intends to strengthen its military presence in Armenia, then there is no doubt that Yerevan will require in return for support in the Karabakh issue, as well as economic benefits. So, at present Armenia contains the 102nd Russian base at its own expense and Moscow does not pay anything for it. -02D-
