Secretary of Defense Meets New British Ambassador and Military Attaché
Baku/17.09.19/Turan: On September 17, Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov received the newly appointed British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, James Sharpe, and the military attache of the Embassy of Colonel-Lieutenant Anthony Bramwell.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, during the meeting the parties emphasized the great potential for military-technical cooperation between the two countries and the importance of expanding these capabilities. The need to implement agreements reached in the field of military education; to continue military English courses and to increase the number of students attending these courses was emphasized.
James Sharpe, in turn, emphasizing that the United Kingdom recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and treats it with respect, noted that his country is a supporter of a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, adding that it is also important in terms of development and ensuring the security of the South Caucasus.
The parties discussed aspects of regional and bilateral cooperation, the security of the Caspian Sea and important strategic infrastructures, as well as a number of other issues of mutual interest.-02D-
