Baku/17.09.19/Turan: Customs officers stopped the smuggling of a large batch of drugs from Georgia to Azerbaijan on September 16. The press service of the Customs Committee said that the cargo was imported by truck by Azerbaijani citizen Vugar Gadirov. He entered Azerbaijan through the Red Bridge customs post, bypassing an X-ray check. Arriving in the village of Ikinchi Shykhly of the Gazakh region, the owner of the truck changed his license plate and moved on to Baku. At the same time, his brother Gadirov Hagani drove to the capital in another truck of the same brand, who was trying to pass the check as having arrived from Georgia. However, customs officers revealed a fraud and found undeclared drugs worth AZN 2 million in the first truck.
According to the information of the press service of the Customs Committee, customs was informed about the upcoming illegal operation and therefore made it possible to transport cargo to Baku. An investigation has been launched.-02D-
