Separatist leader says Karabakh rejected Baku's proposal for integration with Azerbaijan
Baku/06.03.23/Turan: On March 6, separatist leader Arayik Harutyunyan held a meeting of the "Security Council" of Karabakh, where he announced that he was rejecting Baku's proposal to reintegration of Karabakh into Azerbaijan.
According to him, on February 24, with the mediation of peacekeepers, a meeting was held between representatives of Karabakh and Baku "to discuss humanitarian and infrastructure issues."
An agreement was reached on a second meeting, which took place on 1 March.
There were four issues on the agenda: the unblocking of the Lachin corridor, the restoration of electricity supply from Armenia to Karabakh, the restoration of gas supply and the resumption of operation of the Kashen mine (Gyzylbulag).
“During the second meeting, the representative of Azerbaijan tried to discuss political topics using the word “integration”, but the representative of Karabakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, refused to speak on this topic”, - he said.
After that, the Azerbaijani side conveyed through its channels that either the Armenians are going for integration, or the existing problems will not be resolved, but, on the contrary, will become even tougher.
At the end Harutyunyan stated that the majority of the population of Karabakh is against integration into Azerbaijan and will not give up the struggle for independence. -0-
