Seventh Congress of "AzerRos", the Azerbaijanis living in Russia
Extraordinary (reporting and election) Congress of Public Organization "Federal National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of Russia" took place in Moscow on February 20. Chairman of the Council of Elders FNCAR "AzerRos" Abbas Abbasov welcomed the guests and delegates of the Congress.
"This congress truly extraordinary, as our tasks aimed at saving FNCAR"AzerRos "from various slander and libel, said Abbas Abbasov and continued. I want the Congress take up a positive position, we do not want to quarrel with anyone. All Azerbaijanis are brothers. But, unfortunately, there are those who do serve not the interests of autonomy, but their personal interests. Congress must put an end to the confrontation, and elect a new concept of development of the organization," he said.
Chairman of the Federal Council Mehriban Sadigova made a report. Then delegates discussed the changes in the Charter, and to adopted them.
Mehriban Sadigova was elected the president of "AzerRos" A.Magerramova due to resignation of A. Maharramov. Nnew members of the Federal Council "AzerRos" and its chairman - Fayaz Pashaev were elected.
Then the head of the Council of Elders of "AzerRos", Abbas Abbasov, announced his resignation, that caused heated debate among delegates who refused to accept it. Meanwhile, a number of pro-government sources reported that before the Congress some delegates refused to participate in its work, stating no legitimacy of the event. There began a conflict between them and the supporters of Abbas Abbasov. After that, the delegates left the Congress, and intends to hold its congress on March 6. These people are supporters of the Ambassador Polad Bul Bul oglu who does not get along with Abbas Abbasov.
The same forces accuse Abbasov of supporting the Kremlin, and the publication in the press materials defaming the Azerbaijani ambassador. Azerbaijani pro-government media also claim that Abbas Abbasov is one of the initiators of the so-called "club of billionaires" among the wealthy Azerbaijanis, who allegedly finance the process to overthrowing the government in Azerbaijan. -02D-

On October 10, the Baku Appeals Court rejected appeals to extend the detention of individuals involved in the “Toplum TV” case, including journalists Mushfig Jabbar and Ali Zeynalov, as well as activists Akif Gurbanov, Ruslan Izzetli, Ramil Babayev, and Ilkin Amrahov. The appeal from “Toplum TV's” founder, Alesker Mamedli, was not reviewed.

On October 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Georgian citizens to enter Russia for work or for a period of up to 90 days without a visa. The decree takes effect immediately.
