Talysh separatist detained in Moscow at the request of Azerbaijan
Moscow / 10.09.18 / Turan: On September 6, Talysh separatist Fakhraddin Abosod (Abbasov Fakhraddin Farman oglu) was arrested in the Lyubertsy district of Moscow. He was wanted by law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan on charges of committing crimes under the Articles 281.2, 283.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (incitement to hatred and calls against statehood). On September 7, the Lyubertsy Court of Moscow arrested him for one month.
The lawsuit against Abossod was initiated on July 12, 2018 by the Sabail District Court of the city of Baku and was declared an interstate search. Fahraddin Abosod until 1994worked as a teacher at Baku State University (BSU), in 1993 he was elected chairman of the "parliament of the Talysh-Mugan Republic." In 1994 he emigrated to Russia. He returned in 2005, and began to publish a newspaper in the Talish language, but re-traveled to Russia. In September 2010, the Russian authorities granted him temporary asylum, and in 2014 he received a residence permit for a foreign citizen.
Abossod was known for his anti-Azerbaijani statements, he accused Baku of assimilating Talysh. He also often appeared in the Armenian press, accusing Azerbaijan of violating the rights of the Armenian population of Karabakh and justifying the separatist movement. -02D-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
