Tehran does not confirm the arrest of Azerbaijani citizens hiding in Iran
Baku/05.05.23/Turan: Iran does not confirm reports of the detention of Azerbaijani citizens Tohid Ibrahimbeyli and Orhan Mammadov in this country. These individuals have established a religious organization called the "Kerime State" and are actively speaking on social networks with calls to overthrow the authorities in Baku and create a pro-Iranian government in Azerbaijan.
The IRNA news agency, referring to the secret services of its country, reported that the arrest of these Azerbaijani citizens in the city of Qom does not correspond to reality. At the same time, the agency's source added that an investigation is underway, and surveillance has been established for these persons.
On May 3, President Ilham Aliyev, speaking at the international conference in Shusha: "The formation of a Large Eurasian geopolitics: from the past to the present and the future," said that Baku demanded the extradition of "terrorists from Azerbaijan who found refuge in Iran."
He made it clear that if Baku's demands are not met, relations with Tehran will not be normalized. "The sooner they understand this, the sooner normalization will happen," he said. ---0---
