Internet TV Red Line Channel stopped its activity
Baku/05.05.23/Turan: Red Line Channel Internet resource https://www.youtube.com/@RLCaz, which prepared programs on socio-political topics, temporarily stopped broadcasting on May 5, the editor-in-chief of the channel Samira Gasimli told Turan.
According to her, a few days ago, the owner of the premises, which is rented by RLC, demanded to vacate it.
The owner of the premises said that a certain state structure demanded that he evict the RLC, allegedly because of an emergency situation in the building. Although this building also houses a state polyclinic room and residential apartments.
"Over the past three months, we have been working on switching to a new format - daily news, live broadcasts with an operational analysis of the latest events in the country.
In a country where freedom of the press is being stifled, it is very difficult to find financial sources for the existence of independent media. Therefore, RLC will switch to a funding model from viewers. However, receiving donations from citizens has become a red line for the Government. The implementation of independent activities and financial independence makes it possible to refute official propaganda, and also creates undesirable precedents. The RLC was required to leave the building after the transition to the new format," Gasimli said.
She noted that earlier the channel had already been deprived of an office because of its programs. "In March, a hacker attack was carried out on our Facebook page and all materials were deleted, some of which gained up to hundreds of thousands of views.
The RLC has been in effect since 2019. The founder and editor-in-chief of the publication is Samira Gasimli. The channel was known for political and analytical programs. ----03B06----
