Telephone conversation between Aliyev and Putin
Baku/20.09.21/Turan: On September 20, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a phone call to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.
The head of state congratulated the Russian President on the victory of the ruling “United Russia” party in the parliamentary elections.
The Azerbaijani President described this victory as a manifestation of the people's appreciation of the policy aimed at the development and prosperity of the country under the leadership of Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the attention and congratulations.
Stressing the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia based on strategic partnership in various areas, the heads of state discussed issues related to the prospects for cooperation.
During the conversation, the heads of state expressed confidence that the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation between the newly elected State Duma and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan will further continue.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed condolences to Vladimir Putin over the casualties as a result of an accident in the city of Perm. The Russian President thanked for the condolences.-0-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
