Telephone conversation between Jeyhun Bayramov and Karen Donfried
Baku / 03.27.23 / Turan: On Monday, March 27, a telephone conversation took place between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, during the telephone conversation the parties discussed issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, the current situation in the region, as well as the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Bayramov briefed on the situation in the region, including the latest provocations by Armenia, which continues to transfer personnel and weapons to the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan, and the steps taken against this activity without the use of force.
During the conversation, the importance of creating a checkpoint between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the beginning of the Lachin road was once again noted in order to prevent illegal activities on the territory of Azerbaijan. The Minister also drew attention to the non-constructive approaches of Armenia, which impede the negotiations on a peace agreement. At the same time, he stressed that "Azerbaijan is ready to start negotiations on a peace agreement at any moment."
Donfried, in turn, stressed the importance of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia for regional peace and development. Expressing concern over the recent tense situation in the region, she called for "resolving all misunderstandings through negotiations." The American side is ready to support the process, she added.
At the end of the telephone conversation, Minister Bayramov wished Donfrid, who will soon leave her current position, success in her future activities.—06B-
