Tension in the area of the crash of helicopter increases
Lately the intense firefights on the confrontation line between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces increased significantly, say the Armenian media. In particular, they report about the shelling the area of the helicopter’s crash by the Azerbaijani side from propelled grenades and large caliber weapons. The Armenians also report on measures to prevent the approximation of Azerbaijani soldiers to the downed helicopter. The helicopter was shot down on November 12, and fell 100 meters from the Azerbaijani positions and 400 meters from the Armenian.
Armenians have been trying unsuccessfully to obtain the surrender of the bodies of pilots, but Baku does not hurry to do it.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition "Heritage" party Raffi Hovhannisyan has accused the military leadership of Armenia that the Mi-24 helicopter flew at a dangerous distance to the Azerbaijani positions.
At a press conference on November 21 he said that "there was no need to helicopter’s participation in military exercises in the 150 meters from the enemy positions." "This issue arises at all, and it requires a response."
Karabakh separatists today reiterated their refusal to exchange the bodies of three helicopter pilots on two residents of Kalbajar taken prisoner in summer of this year. -02D-
