Ter-Petrosyan called on Sargsyan to recognize Karabakh?

Yerevan / 11.04.16 / Turan-ArmInfo: "My meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan should not have come as a surprise, because, regardless of serious disagreements with the authorities, I have always acted with similar initiatives in times of threat to Nagorno-Karabakh," said the former president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan  in an interview iLur .am.

On  April 5, he wrote a letter to Sargsyan, which reads: "Serge, do not think that  under such a situation our meeting will give to society the positive momentum and will be well received by the Armenian people and the international community. The talk will  be on the way out with honor and without, as well as  without political losses, as well as the feasibility of ideas on Nagorno Karabakh’s recognition by Armenia, and signing an agreement on mutual military assistance between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. These ideas are qualified as a propaganda ploy, but their implementation should  not be an impulsive response to the demands of minutes, but serious discussions and precise calculation. The time and place of the meeting I leave it to your discretion. When publishing the fact of the meeting, you are free to note that it took place on my initiative. "

As  the next days  Sargsyan  is supposed to be in Germany, he on the phone  told  Ter-Petrosian that the meeting will take place upon his return, in the house of the first president.

Ter-Petrosyan said that in other countries, in the case of an external threat, internal political divisions, are usually temporarily postponed, and the efforts of the healthy political and social forces are directed to the strengthening of national security and confront the threat.

On 9 April  Serzh Sargsyan  discussed with Ter-Petrosyan  the situation in Karabakh, the next development in the negotiation process, and the need for national unity to confront similar challenges.

On 3 April 3 Levon Ter-Petrosyan  wrote on his Facebook page that Azerbaijan should realize that  under any political situation in Armenia military encroachment on Karabakh will meet collective resistance of the Armenian people. "In case of military threat, I will call on our supporters to suspend political activities and move to the innermost to the defense of the homeland,"  wrote the policy.
