The accused of espionage in favor of Armenia sentenced to 17.5 years
Baku/30.11.23/Turan: The Baku Court for Serious Crimes sentenced Aydin Zakiyev, accused of treason, to 17.5 years in prison.
He was detained in October 2021 by employees of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan.
The investigation found that Zakiyev was engaged in espionage in favor of the Armenian secret services, met with their representatives on the territory of third states.
By the instructions of the Armenian side, Zakiyev collected and transmitted information about the equipment of the personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
He also distributed texts sent to him from Armenia aimed at inciting ethnic hatred in Azerbaijan.---06B----
