The Armenian parliament rejected the draft on recognition the independence of Karabakh
On November 12 Armenia's parliament rejected a bill of a deputy from "Heritage", Zarui Postanjyan providing for the recognition Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence. Only eight deputies voted for the document.
Before voting a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Artak Zakarian said that the issue of recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh on the agenda of the parliament for the fourth time. "One thing is clear: the right time, when the need arises, this initiative should support all the deputies. But now our faction will not participate in the vote," he said. According to Armenian media, the majority of MPs did not participate in voting.
Representatives of the parliamentary forces, except for "Dashnakutiun" and "Heritage" decided not to participate in voting for the unilateral recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh "failure" process to resolve the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
"Dashnakutiun" voted for the document, because a vote against would be the subject of speculation outside the country. "This can be interpreted as unwillingness to recognize Armenia's independence of Nagorno-Karabakh," said the leader of the Dashnak Rustamyan. Earlier, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said that Armenia will go on recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh if Azerbaijan starts war. -02D-
