The Azerbaijani government does not comply with the ECHR decision in the case of Ilkin Rustamzadeh

Baku/17.04.18/Turan: The Azerbaijani government does not comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights on the case of activist of the NIDA Movement, Ilkin Rustamzade, said the attorney Neymat Kerimli. According to him, the deadline for execution of the decision and payment of compensation to the applicant, who has been in jail for 5 years, expired in December 2017.

However, until now no compensation has been paid and, in connection with this, the lawyer wrote a complaint to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. On July 20, the ECHR announced a decision on the first complaint to Rustamzade, which was connected with his administrative arrest during one of the protests in Baku. The ECHR ruled to pay him compensation for six thousand euros.

The defense filed a complaint in connection with the criminal prosecution of Rustamzade, which has not yet been examined by the ECHR. Ilkin Rustamzade was detained on May 17, 2013 on charges of hooliganism - as the investigation assessed the flash mob dance Harlem Shake on the seaside boulevard of Baku and the placement of the video on YouTube.

On May 6, 2014, the court deprived him of his liberty for eight years. The appeal was rejected on December 16, 2014. Arrested together with him seven people have long been released. After the arrest of Rustamzade, his parents' health worsened seriously, and they needed qualified medical care. However, the family has no funds. -06D--
