The court confiscated the property of the ex-head of the State Media Support Fund
Baku/28.12.21/Turan: The Baku Serious Crimes Court decided to confiscate the property of Vugar Safarli, the ex-head of the State Media Support Fund., Safarli, who has been sentenced to ten years and a half in prison for the theft of about two tens of millions of manats, has lost huge real estate: land plots in various parts of Baku and its suburbs, houses and apartments in the same place; plots of land in Ismayilli, as well as several expensive cars. In addition, the court confiscated funds in Safarli's accounts in various banks for a total of 1 million manats.
Vugar Safarli was found guilty of embezzling at least 18 million manats during 2015-2018.
These funds were embezzled in the construction of houses for journalists. Part of the funds was embezzled in the allocation of money for media support and events. During the trial of Safarli, the question was repeatedly raised that part of the stolen funds were transferred to Ali Hasanov, the assistant to the head of state, but the court did not summon Hasanov to the trial. -02D-
