The Court of Appeal upheld the refusal to transfer G.Ibadoglu to a prison hospital
Baku//28.12.23/Turan: On December 28, the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) considered a complaint against the refusal to accept the lawyers' petition for the transfer of opposition politician Gubad Ibadoglu to a prison hospital.
The defense had previously appealed to the Narimanov district Court with a petition to declare illegal the decision of the main medical department of the Ministry of Justice to refuse Ibadoglu's transfer to a medical institution of the Penitentiary Service.
“The Narimanov district Court did not accept our petition at all. Unfortunately, the Court of Appeal did not satisfy our complaint against the decision of the court of first instance," said lawyer Zibeida Sadygova.
*On July 24, the Narimanov District Court of Baku arrested Gubad Ibadoglu for 3 months and 26 days on charges of making counterfeit money. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan stated that Ibadoglu is associated with supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in 2016 in Turkey. On August 25, he was charged with "manufacturing, storing or distributing religious extremist materials." On November 16, the court extended Gubad Ibadoglu's arrest for another three months.
Gubad Ibadoglu denies the accusations, considering them absurd. Many international organizations and officials have called on official Baku to immediately release the politician. The European Parliament called for sanctions against Azerbaijani officials because of the persecution of Ibadoglu. --16В--
