The Court of Appeals remains Intigam Aliyev in custody
On September 22 Baku Court of Appeal considered the complaint of the arrested human rights activist Intigam Aliyev against the decision of Nasimi Court, which refused to replace the arrest to house arrest. According to Aliyev’s family members, the complaint was not satisfied, and the judge upheld the decision of the trial court. Intigam Aliyev participated at the meeting of the Court of Appeal.
On August 8 Nasimi Court ordered authorized the arrest of Intigam Aliyev, the head of the Legal Enlightenment Society, for three-months under three Articles of the Criminal Code: 213.1 (tax evasion), 308.2 (abuse of power), 192.2 (illegal business.)
The international community has recognized Intigam Aliyev a prisoner of conscience. -16D04-
