The ECHR accepted for consideration the complaint of Ali Insanov
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has accepted a complaint of the former Health Minister Ali Insanov on the decision of the Garadagh District Court. Insanov's lawyer Togrul Babayev received official notification of this from the Strasbourg Court. Insanov has been in detention since October 2005. Initially, he was accused of attempting a coup, but then was sentenced to 11 years for economic crimes. Despite the fact that the Strasbourg Court found a violation of the rights of Insanov, the sentence against him was upheld.
In October 2016 nine days prior to the expiration of the terms ofimprisonemnt a new charge was put against Insanov of illegal possession of drugs, resistance to the guards, keeping the prohibited subject.
Insanov complained to the ECHR on the new arrest considering the charges trumped up.
