The election headquarters Hasanli submitted to the CEC complaints of violations
The election headquarters of the presidential candidate of the National Council of Azerbaijan Democratic Forces ( NCDF ) submitted complaints on the violations during the presidential election to the CEC.
According to Gulaga Aslanly, the representative of the Hasanli, the CEC presented 840 acts on violations in the elections, made by authorized representatives, observers of Hasanli and members of election commissions.
The handling of complaints will start on Saturday and will continue for two days. The election headquarters will continue to present new material on violations which continue to come in from the campaign staff areas.
Aslanly believes that these materials as well as the OSCE ODIHR observation mission, provide sufficient grounds for the annulment of the election results, and the date of new a election scheduled.—06D--

On January 13, the trial in the case of public activist Nijat Ibrahim continued in the Baku Serious Crimes Court under the chairmanship of Judge Aygun Gurbanova. The trial was suspended after Ibrahim, in protest against the illegal arrest, began banging his head against the "aquarium cage", trying to commit suicide. The International Committee of Concerned Scholars (ICS) has appealed to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, requesting his assistance in securing the release of the arrested researcher, Igbal Abilov. The ICS expressed concern that Abilov's arrest "may be related to his research on ethnic minorities in Azerbaijan, conducted in collaboration with scholars from Armenia."
