The EU funds new project to develop Azerbaijan`s justice system
The European Union has started to finance a new project to support reform in the system of Justice. "Support of the Azerbaijani justice system of development and improvement of services provided to institutions for the execution of court decisions" on December 9, held a presentation of the project.
The main objective of the project implemented by the Ministry of Justice, the Judicial-Legal Council, and the Office for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office, is a further development of the reforms of the judicial system and improve the management of the fight against crime.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the EU mission, the project beneficiary institutions, government agencies, international organizations, civil society and media.
The project, which will continue until September 2018, will analyze the role and functions of the judiciary control, applied a methodology for assessing the professionalism of judges, the development of the concept of the probation service, the organization of educational seminars and study visits to the European countries. -06D--

Shamshad Aga, editor of the "Argument.az" website, has been found guilty in the Meydan TV case of smuggling (Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to two months and one day in detention. The decision was made on February 6 by the Khatai District Court of Baku, as reported by Turan, citing his lawyer, Shahla Humbatova.
