Baku / 07.06.19 / Turan: By the decree of the country's president, Seyfulla Azimov is appointed the first deputy minister of internal affairs of the country. Prior to that, he headed the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, known as the "bandit department". This department has a dismal reputation and has always been the object of harsh criticism of human rights defenders.
Thus, many political, religious, social activists, journalists, bloggers, were arrested and contained in the GUPOB cells. Subsequently, at the trials they told about refined torture and inhuman treatment in the indicated department.
The place of the first deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs turned out to be vacant after June 20, Vilayat Eyvazov assumed the post of Minister of Internal Affairs. Information about the appointment of Azimov was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. -06D-
