The intensity of Azerbaijan`s cooperation with Israel depends on Iran`s behavior - expert
Baku/19.04.23/Turan: The opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel has raised relations between the two countries to a higher level and the visit of the Foreign Minister of the Jewish state to Baku is aimed at intensifying this partnership, Director of the Institute of Political Management Azer Gasimli said this in an interview with a Turan correspondent.
In his opinion, their further development can accelerate cooperation in the military sphere. "This is important for us from the point of view of military security. Because many countries do not sell weapons to Azerbaijan. Israel is one of the few countries that sells us high-quality and high-precision weapons. This is an important factor of Azerbaijan's military security," Gasimli said.
At the same time, cooperation with Israel also has unfavorable moments. "This has a negative impact on Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. Until now, the Azerbaijani government has tried to maintain a balance, but after the 44-day war, the situation has changed," Gasimli said. The balance has been disrupted, and Baku has moved away from the previous policy of balance, which it adhered to in relation to these countries.
"The prospects of Azerbaijani-Israeli relations depend on the relations between Baku and Tehran. If Iran continues to escalate tensions, the relations between Azerbaijan and Israel will become even closer and reach the highest level, including in the military and other spheres," Gasimli said. ---16B---
