A meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Elmar Mammadyarov and Rashid Meredov took place in Ashgabad. According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, during the meeting the parties appreciated the current level of bilateral relations. On the same day in Ashgabat was emphasized the importance a trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey in the development of regional cooperation. Mammadyarov and Meredov also discussed cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy, transport, education, culture and sports. The importance of the 12-28 June 2015 in Baku, the first European games and Turkmenistan - "Asian Games 2017"was noted. The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interes.-06D--

The international organization "Women Press Freedom" condemned the arrest of journalist Shahnaz Beylergizi in Azerbaijan. Shamshad Aga, editor of the "Argument.az" website, has been found guilty in the Meydan TV case of smuggling (Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to two months and one day in detention. The decision was made on February 6 by the Khatai District Court of Baku, as reported by Turan, citing his lawyer, Shahla Humbatova.
