The newspaper "Azadlig" suspends activity
Baku/12.11.13/Turan : State Publishing House "Azerbaijan" has suspended the publication of today 's leading and oldest opposition newspaper of the country, "Azadlig". The leadership of the Publishing House "Azerbaijan" adopted this decision after a meeting with the editor. It is unknown when the publication can be restored, according to the deputy editor of the newspaper, Rahim Hajiyev.
He said that the reason for the suspension is a debt of more than 24,000 manat.
"Publishing announced that it cannot any more wait for the payment of debt, and we can not get from the distributor "Gasid" our debt of 60,000 manat," said the deputy editor.
In addition, about 65,000 manat demands from the newspaper a director of Baku Metro, Tagi Ahmadov, on his claim the court fined the newspaper.
Civil society activists have started raising money through Facebook to hold the “Azadlig” newspaper. -03B-
