The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan on August 11 approved the nomination for President of the Chairman of the Azadlig Party Ahmed Orudj.
Earlier, the CEC approved the nominations of the leader of the ruling party New Azerbaijan, the incumbent President Ilham Aliyev.
Documents for approval of the presidential nomination were received from another six candidates: the head of the Citizens and Development Party, Ali Aliyev, the head of the Liberal Democratic Party, Fuad Aliyev, the head of the NGO Center for Public Links, Ilgar Altai (self-nominated), the leader of the party Umid, Igbal Aghazadeh, the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Araz Alizadeh, and the head of the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev. -06D-

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has expressed condolences to the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, following the tragic incident in the city of Magdeburg. "We are deeply shocked by the news of the deaths and injuries resulting from the tragic incident that took place at the Christmas market in Magdeburg," the message reads.
