Azerbaijan and Italy diversify areas of cooperation
Questions of energy cooperation were one of the main topics at yesterday’s Baku meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Italy Enrico Letta.
As noted Aliyev at the press briefing after the meeting, TAP Project (Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline) opens up new opportunities for cooperation.
"Our projects will ensure the energy security of Europe, and at the same time open up new big markets in the European Union for us," said Aliyev
At the same time, Aliyev pointed to the great potential of cooperation in other areas - construction, tourism and agriculture.
TAP is important not only for Italy but for the whole region, in turn, said the chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Enrico Letta.
Referring to the Karabakh settlement, Letta said that maintaining the status quo in such conflicts is no way out. According to him, Italy supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group on the peaceful settlement of the conflict based on international standards.
Letta said that in 2014 Italy will hold the EU Presidency, and during this period is going to take certain actions to support steps to resolve these conflicts. -06D-
