The session of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) after hours of debate, decided to support the candidacy of Rustam Ibragimbekov.
However, given the impossibility of registering Ibragimbekov in connection with the non-termination of his Russian citizenship, they discussed backup options.
One option is to advance an extra single candidate. The second option is to nominate candidates by political parties included in NCDF and adoption of the decision to support one of them at the final stage.
As a result, the first option was supported by 43 members of NCDF, and the second - by 42, said at the briefing Eldar Namazov, chief of staff of NCDF.
According to him, in the next few days an extra single candidate will be determined after consultation and he will commit to withdraw his candidacy if Ibragimbekov is registered.
Note that the deadline of the subscription lists of candidates for the registration expires on September 9, 2013
Thus, NCDF only has 20 days. In this case, it is not clear when they will put forward an additional candidate. After the nomination of his statement to the CEC it will be treated for 5 days.

The National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDC) continues the discussion on the tactics of participation in the elections. Discussion which began on Monday at 15:00 continued till 19.00.
Various options are being discussed. One of them is to save the candidacy of Rustam Ibrahimbayov as a single candidate, and to nominate an alternate candidate, in case if Ibrahimbayov is not registere.
The second option provides the nomination of other opposition leaders.
In case if Ibrahimbayov is not registered, they all will go to the polls, and at the last moment one of them will be recognized as the single candidate of NCDF, and others would withdraw their candidacies.
An obstacle for Ibrahimbayov’s participation in elections is that the Russian authorities has not stopped his Russian citizenship.
On the other hand, the authorities have filed a lawsuit against the Union of Cinematographers led by Ibrahimbayov on charges of tax evasion.
In addition, the municipality of Narimanov district has not approved the minutes of the meeting of the initiative group on nomination of Ibrahimbayov as a candidate for the presidency.
For this reason, it is impossible to submit of documents Ibrahimbayov to the CEC.-06D-
