The persecution of the guilty in the events of March 1, 2008 started in Armenia
Yerevan / 03.07.18 / Turan: Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan was summoned to the Special Investigation Service in the case of mass riots in Yerevan on March 1, 2008, as a result of which 10 people died. According to the Armenian media, Kocharian was notified. An official comment is expected in the near future.
Earlier, former defense minister of Armenia, Mikael Harutyunyan, was brought to justice in the case of March 1, 2008 events, he was put on the wanted list.
Harutyunyan is considered the organizer of the army's participation in the dispersal of the opposition rally, which protested against rigging the elections in favor of Serzh Sargsyan.

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
