The U.S. Chargé d'Affaires met with Tofig Yagublu's daughter
Baku/21.12.23/Turan: On December 21, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Hugo Guevara met with Nigar Hazi, the daughter of the arrested opposition politician Tofig Yagublu. This is stated in the message on the embassy's account on platform X.
“Today, Chargé d'affaires Hugo Guevara met with Nigar Hazi to hear about the recent arrest of her father, Tofig Yagublu. The United States remains deeply troubled by the recent arrests of those exercising their fundamental freedoms and calls for their expeditious release”, - reads the pree release.
Tofig Yagublu, a member of the Musavat Party and the National Council of Democratic Forces, was arrested on December 14 on rigged charges of making false documents and fraud.
The politician has previously been repeatedly arrested and convicted on far-fetched charges of criticizing the authorities. International organizations recognized him as a political prisoner. -0-
