The US Embassy in Baku urges Americans to be careful
Baku/06.01.19/Turan: The US Embassy in Azerbaijan called on American citizens to take precautionary measures. "There is heightened tension in the Middle East that may result in security risks to U.S. citizens abroad. Out of an abundance of caution, U.S. Embassy personnel are instructed to minimize nonessential travel. The Embassy will continue to review the security situation and will provide additional information as needed.
In the Middle East, tensions are increasing that could lead to a security risk for US citizens abroad. For this reason, embassy staff was instructed to minimize travel, ”the embassy said on a diplomatic mission website.
In particular, Americans are encouraged keep a low profile; be aware of your surroundings; stay alert in locations frequented by tourists; review personal security plans; and have travel documents up to date and easily accessible. According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.

On November 22, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding a peace treaty in an interview with Public TV.
