The US regrets that not all political prisoners have been released in Azerbaijan
Baku/08.05.23/Turan: The United States welcomes the pardon in Azerbaijan of persons sentenced to prison for exercising their fundamental freedoms,the message of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan dated May 8.
"Unfortunately, many still remain in prison for exercising the same rights, and we call on Azerbaijan to release these individuals.
We urge Azerbaijan to take additional steps consistent with its obligations under its own constitution and international agreements to protect the fundamental freedoms of its citizens," the press release says. ---16B---
