To prevent the West from entering the South Caucasus: the message with which Shoigu arrived in Baku

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said that during his working trip to Baku, he discussed attempts by the West to interfere in the process of building security in the South Caucasus, TASS reports. Shoigu held talks with the head of the Azerbaijani Security Council Ramil Usubov and President Ilham Aliyev.

"A wide range of issues were discussed. First of all, this is security in the South Caucasus. This is a peace agreement with Armenia, the 10th edition of which has been handed over to Yerevan and, of course, very active attempts by the West to interfere in this process," Shoigu told reporters.

"And, of course, the idea of Ilham Heydarovich Aliyev on negotiations in the 3+3 format. (Azerbaijan+Armenia+Georgia+Russia+Türkiye +Iran).  He is supported by us, and we have discussed this topic as well."

According to Shoigu, this format should be used not only for the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement, but also for the stabilization of the situation in the South Caucasus as a whole.

Thus, all the topics discussed are aimed at solving all regional issues without the participation of the West.   The content of the discussions in Baku gives an answer to the question why Shoigu did not go to Armenia and did not discuss the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement in Yerevan, where they prefer to resolve all issues with the West rather than with Russia.
