Towards results of municipal elections
Turnout at the 29 January municipal elections in Azerbaijan was 31.45%, representative of the CEC Secretariat Farid Orujev said the previous evening.
In the morning of 30 January, the CEC website published the results of voting in 685 municipalities covering most of the 118 electoral districts where the elections were held.
Added to this can be that 16,096 candidates fought for 8,071 seats, more than half of whom were representatives of the ruling 'Yeni Azerbaijan Party'.
Chairman of the 'Republican Alternative Party' Natig Jafarli told Turan that 5 out of 14 candidates of this Party were elected to municipalities.
In turn, Mustafa Hajibeyli, deputy chairman of the 'Musavat Party", told Turan that none of the 30 candidates of this organisation had passed to the municipalities. He pointed out that the Party will issue a statement in the coming hours, in which it will give an assessment of the elections.
