Trial in the case of Ilgar Mammadov and Tofik Yagublu
Preliminary hearing on Ismayilli events took place in the Sheki Court for Serious Crimes chaired by Rashid Huseynov.
The leader of the "Republican Alternative" Ilgar Mamedov, deputy chairman of the party "Musavat" Tofig Yagublu and 18 others will be brought to trial, Turan was told by Yagublu’s lawyer Nemat Karimli.
According to him , the accused persons will be transported to Ganja and for the period of the judicial investigation , they will be left at the local jail.
On January 23-24 riots will be in Ismaily region due to the bullying of the manager of "Chirag", and accidents involving nephews, the chief executive, who then insulted the local population. A group of residents set fire to the hotel and were in his yard foreign cars.
The next day, the locals began to protest , demanding the resignation of the chief executive of the region. . Later the action escalated into clashes with security forces.
Mammadov and Yagublu arrived in Ismaili region on January 24 to review the situation when the riots were going on.
They were later arrested and charged under the Articles: 220.1 (organization of mass disorders) and 315.2 ( resisting police against violence.)
The international community has recognized Mamedov and Yagublu prisoners of conscience and repeatedly called for their immediate release. The authorities have ignored all these calls. -16D-

European observers are creating "distrust" between Baku and Brussels, stated President Ilham Aliyev on Monday during the presentation of credentials by the new Belgian ambassador, Julien de Frepon. Aliyev emphasized that the "binocular diplomacy" of the European monitoring mission is unacceptable and contributes to distrust in Azerbaijan's relations with the European Union. He questioned the necessity of extending the mission and increasing its numbers without consulting Baku.

Afgan Sadigov, the founder of the Azerbaijani website Azel TV, collapsed in a prison hospital in Georgia while on the 24th day of his hunger strike. His wife, Sevinc Sadigova, reported this, stating that he fell unconscious while trying to drink water and woke up to find doctors around him. Blood tests were taken, but he could not recall how long he had been unconscious.
