Turkey Supports Georgia`s Integration into NATO
The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee of Turkey called on the allies to support Georgia's aspiration to integrate into the Alliance at the NATO Summit in Warsaw (8-9 July), said the agency Anadolu.
The statement stressed the high level of relations between Turkey and Georgia, "bearing a strategic character." The document also points to the policy of "open doors" of NATO in fostering security in the Euro-Atlantic area.
"The desire of countries to join NATO on the basis of their own will and preferences and in accordance with the policy of open doors does not represent any danger and risk to third parties," the statement noted.
Turkish parliamentarians emphasize the importance of Georgia's stability and security in the Euro-Atlantic area, and in the context of promoting democratic values.
"The Committee reiterates the support of the independence, sovereignty, internationally recognized borders and territorial integrity of Georgia. The Committee is also ready to assist in taking the necessary measures in accordance with the expectations of Georgia to implement the NATO-Georgia agreements adopted at the summit in Wales," the statement said. -02D-
