Turkmenistan initiates construction of Trans-Caspian gas pipeline
Baku/27.10.22/Turan: The international exhibition and conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2022" has opened in Ashgabat.
The company "Trans Caspian Resources, Inc" presented an idea of a 78-kilometer Trans-Caspian gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, local media reported.
Director of the advisory committee of "Trans Caspian Resources, Inc" Natalie Costello said that the idea is to connect the existing Turkmen offshore platforms to the same platforms in Azerbaijan.
"This gas pipeline with a capacity of 10-12 billion cubic meters per year will connect the gas produced in Turkmenistan with the Southern Gas Corridor," she said.
In turn, the head of the Turkmengaz State Concern, Batyr Amanov, announced Turkmenistan's desire to supply gas to Europe.
Recall that according to the Convention on the Status of the Caspian, adopted by all the Caspian countries, the laying of a pipeline between the coastal countries is coordinated by them. The pipeline must meet high environmental standards.
The explored reserves of natural gas in Turkmenistan amount to 16 trillion cubic meters.
Europe's annual demand for natural gas is 470 billion cubic meters. Of this volume, Russia supplied about 200 billion cubic meters annually. More than 109 billion are supplied by Norway, 38 billion by the Netherlands, about 16 billion by Azerbaijan. -02D-

On Friday, the Baku Serious Crimes Court continued the proceedings in the case of opposition politician Tofiq Yagublu. Yagublu's lawyers requested the summons of additional witnesses, including members of the National Council of Democratic Forces, opposition activists, and Yagublu’s wife, Maya Yagublu. Contrary to the prosecution's claims that Yagublu was involved in handing over money to facilitate a visa for Elshan Huseynov in the Zabrat settlement, his lawyers argued that he was actually attending a National Council meeting in the Pirshaghi settlement at that time. Witnesses can confirm this. The court partially granted the request, deciding to call four additional witnesses. The next court session is scheduled for October 18.
